What Blue VO!CE Actually Does

Real-time processing on the microphone: a noise reducer, a compressor, a limiter, and a de-esser, adjustable in software.

This is studio signal chain rather than a marketing name. A compressor evens out the difference between your quiet voice and your shouting one; a limiter stops the peak that clips; the noise reducer gates out fan and keyboard between words. Applied to a decent capsule, the result on the other end genuinely does sound like a podcast microphone rather than a gaming headset.

It runs on the PC, not in the headset. That is why the USB sound card and the software are both required and why none of it travels. The microphone element is unchanged when you unplug the dongle — only the processing disappears, and the processing is most of the effect.
